ABOUT US
About Us
Who We Are: The Galt Islamic Centre is a Nonprofit profit charitable organization. An islamic centre comprised of a group of scholars, parents and volunteers that has been serving the community inCambridge and waterloo region. The journey began in 2010.
Our Journey: The centre started in the basement of one of our volunteers and just a few students perusing islamic studies. As the number of students increased and the need for more classes other staff were hired and the centre moved to a rental space where more classes and students could be accommodated. Then in 2017 we were blessed with the opportunity of moving to the basement of local Islamic School where we started to teach 140 students.
Currently, we are teaching more than 250+ students and we have expanded to different locations. We also continue to serve the community on a larger scale not only through education, but also through other social and outreach programs and initiatives.
We are currently serving through education primarily teaching Islamic Studies to students aged 5 to 15. The students are taught the correct pronunciation and method of recitation of the Holy Qur’aan, as well as the importance of good character in everyday dealings, and relationships
